Have you ever heard the song C.R.E.A.M. by the wu tang clan? It is a hip hop song made in the 1990s and what the letters stood for was Cash rules everything around me. The reason why I brought this song up is because this is an important example of how money is power and the more you have of it the more power you have. For instance over in china if you are big it is said that you have money because you ca afford to eat so much. In this example the people that are big have power to get what they want because they are big. Money is valued so highly in life and the start came from years ago with slavery. If you had the most slaves and the biggest land you are looked up to. Even though having money does not get you happiness it gives you the opportunity to do whatever you want. In the world that we live today everything is ran by money and the more you have the higher you get in the pyramid. I was writing about this topic because I think it is important to know that it is not all about money and that people should get out of the mindset that money is power because it’s not it’s something that you cannot take with you once you leave this earth. Everybody is trying to do whatever they have to get the most money they can have whether it’s having a job or selling illegal products everyone is doing what they have to get on top. This government is all about money these days and in this essay I will show you how money is power and how America’s capitalistic system values profit over the health of its citizens.
Process
For the process of this paper I did some of the research online taking my information from the New York Times magazine and the movies Food Matters, and Food Inc. I also used of the information that I have previously learned from my early years of high school. I used NY times, the money and food part. Such as why some people may lean toward the cheap non good for you food rather than the organic stuff and who plays a big role in the decisions that you make. In the movies they also give you an insight on the money and government part how they use money for medicine and to get things the easy way instead of the right way. They like to use short cuts because it gets you to the money faster. I wanted to use a website called my plate

First the food in America good vs. bad. Driving around you will find more fast food places on every block or corner why is that? Is money more important than the wellbeing of people? Now a days most people are not as family orientated as they used to be. People are all about work and making a dollar to be able to do what they want and to take care of their family. Now I’m not saying that this is bad but not having time to cook a home cooked meal and just running to pick up some fast food is what’s hurting our people today. Some people are becoming lazy they don’t want to cook the family meals so the go to the drive through of any fast-food restaurant and feed their families. They do not know that this is the reason kids are becoming more and more over weight and they are becoming less physically active and social able. The reason they are becoming less sociable is because the family meals is what got you talking and formed bonds with parents but when you eat in the back seat you’re on your phone and not worried about how someone’s day was. These fast food places such as McDonald’s, Wendy’s, burger king, etc. they draw the kid in by having little things like toys with the meal or having little play rooms where the kids can go and play. It’s not just the fast food places that are serving unhealthy food it is also our markets. The food at the market is grown using a bunch of different chemicals to make it grown faster and bigger. But this is the food that is sold at a lower cost than the food that is grown naturally not using chemicals and some people are all about saving money so they will go for what is cheap instead of what is good for you. In the documentary called food matters they talk about how if the people knew about the help that having the proper nutrients in our body that we would not need all of these different prescriptions that the doctors are trying to push down our throat. But we cannot get the proper nutrients because the food that is grown does not have what we need because of all the chemicals that is being used to grow the food that we eat. What the soil people do is they sale you soil that does not have the nutrients its needs and it starts to attract bugs and what you do then is you call the same or another company to buy the chemicals to kill the bugs that are growing and eating all of your food. It’s like an ongoing process so you wound up spending more money on the products you need then actually making money on the products that you are selling. Another example that shows the money as power is the limitations when you don’t have the money you need then you are limited to certain things I was watching a movie and it was about a family who didn’t have a lot of money so that limited there food and they could only eat certain things. They would go to the fast food place and order a burger and fries because it was so cheap. At these fast food places that make it so much easier for you to buy a burger rather than a salad because I burger runs about 1-2 dollars were as you look at the price of a salad and it will cost you 5 bucks why is that. Even at a super market if you go into the candy alias the candy is cheap and almost always on sale but once you walk over to the healthy snack bars the price is like a dollar for just one bar. So money is power when you shop for food because it limits what you get because you are on a budget and having the healthier foods at a higher price makes people not want to spend the money because once again money is highly valued in America.
Americans health has be declining and the reason being is because money is power. When you go to the doctor and tell them about a problem that you are having they prescribe you with medicine to help you but really it’s not helping you its making your body worse because although it may help one part it is messing up the other parts of your body. The government pushes on us to buy this medicine and that medicine giving us false hope making us believe that the drugs they are coming up with is going to help us but truth is once we start taking one medicine we always need another medicine to help with the other problem that is going on with our bodies. For example a doctor may prescribe you codeine after you come out of surgery and you are experiencing mild to moderately severe pain. Now although it is to help you not feel pain it is also an addictive drug that if taken too much can lead to death and that is with all medicated drugs. The thing about this is when you use it and start to get addicted to it the way they get you from being addicted to it any more is they will put you on another drug and all drugs do is wear and tear at your body. If your body was to get the proper nutrients that it needed then your body would be able to heal its self “the body has its own healing mechanism (Food Matters).” Meaning the body is capable of healing its self all that needs to be done is eating healthy and taking the proper vitamins. “One vitamin can cure many illnesses (Food Matters).” In the movie Food Matters the nutritionist on there are talking about all the things that vitamins do for the body and one of them was they help with the healing process. They talk about studies of how vitamins help to cure things such as cancer. So instead of the doctors getting you to spend so much money on medicine that is not good for your body that all you would have to do is take vitamins and not only will it help you in one place but in all the other places as well.

I wanted to use a website called my plate.com because they give you information about eating healthier and different ways to do so while saving money, which is why most people choose fast food over healthy food. Also in the movie Food Inc. they give you a family who doesn’t have enough money to buy healthy food and they constantly are eating out to be able to pay for the medicine. Paper
What do you value more the money or your health? Money in America is picked more over many things. Some things are more expensive than others; food and medicine are the two things that we people depend on most in America. We have so many different things to choose from that are the same but just varies in price. What we need the most would be the more expensive things, such as a cure to some disease or the healthy organic food grown naturally. This government is all about money these days and in this essay I will show you how money is power and how America’s capitalistic system values profit over the health of its citizens.
Driving around you will find more fast food places on every block or corner. Why is that? Is money more important than the wellbeing of people? In the 21st century it is more common for people to eat out at a fast food restaurant than it is to have a home cooked meal. Most people are all about work and making a dollar to be able to do what they want and to take care of their family. “Fast foods are quick, reasonably priced, and readily available alternatives to home cooking (Fast Food, NYTimes.com).” Money in the 21st century is very important because it is what we use in everyday life along with food. Having fast food restaurants around makes things easier for the busier working people. “While convenient and inexpensive for a busy lifestyle, fast foods are typically high in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt (Fast Food NY times.com).” Not having time to cook a home cooked meal and just running to pick up some fast food is what’s hurting our people today. Some people are becoming lazy they don’t want to cook the family meals so the go to the drive through of any fast-food restaurant and feed their families. Eating out is one reason kids are becoming more and more over weight and they are becoming less physically active and sociable. Research shows that children eat more without realizing it if they are served larger portions. This can mean they are consuming a lot of extra calories, especially when eating high-calorie foods according to the CDC. But we cannot get the proper nutrients because according to the documentary Food Matters they talk a lot about how most food that is grown and how it doesn’t have the proper nutrients needed because of all the chemicals that is being used to grow the food that we eat. What the soil companies do is they sale you soil that does not have the nutrients it needs and it starts to attract bugs and what you do then is you call the same or another company to buy the chemicals to kill the bugs that are growing and eating all of your food. It’s like an continuing process so you wound up spending more money on the products you need then actually making money on the products that you are selling.
Another example that shows that money is power is the limitations of products. When you don’t have the money you need then you are limited to certain things. I was watching a movie called Food Inc. and it was about a family who didn’t have a lot of money so that limited their food and they could only eat certain things. This family was a Spanish family and they didn’t have enough money for healthy foods so they would eat at fast food stores. Also another problem that they faced was they didn’t have money to pay for the medicine the father need because he was a diabetic. This was a family that struggled with poverty. They would go to the fast food places and order a burger and fries because it was so cheap. At these fast food places they make it so much easier for you to buy a burger rather than a salad because a burger runs about one to two dollars where as you look at the price of a salad and it will cost you 5 bucks why is that. Even at a super market if you go into the candy aisle, the candy is cheap and almost always on sale but once you walk over to the healthy snack bars, the price is a dollar for just one bar or double. I believe for this reason money is power when you shop for food because it limits what you get when you are on a budget and have the healthier foods at a higher price. This makes people not want to spend the money. Once again money is highly valued in America.
Americans health has been declining and the reason being is money. When you go to the doctor and tell them about a problem that you are having they prescribe you with medicine to help you but really sometimes it’s not helping you its making your body worse. For instance, when you break something on your body the doctors may prescribe you a medicine called Percocet. This drug is supposed to help anyone experiencing mild to moderately severe pain. The side effects of this drug are slow heartbeat, confusion and unusual thoughts or behavior. Although it is to help you not feel pain it is also an addictive drug that if taken too much can lead to death and that is with all medicated drugs, too much of them can kill you. It may help one part it is messing up the other parts of your body according to Food Matters. Doctors prescribe us these drugs knowing that it can harm our bodies with the negative effects. Medicated drugs are short term meaning they help you now, but vitamins re long term they help you now and in the future. For example, the doctors tell people to get flu shots every year because it lessens the chance of you catching it. But if you take your vitamins and eat healthy food with the proper nutrients it builds your immune system so that you will not catch the common cold or the flu. If your body was to get the proper nutrients that it needed then your body would be able to heal its self “the body has its own healing mechanism (Food Matters).” Meaning the body is capable of healing its self all that needs to be done is eat healthy and taking the proper vitamins.
In conclusion the three sources that are being used in this essay helps support the argument that the capitalistic system values money more than the citizen’s health in America. In this essay it can easily be said that the government values money over the health of the citizens in America. Writing this essay I was trying to open most people’s views on how the government is making money the most important thing to have while you live more important than your health. That is the reason why the food is so unhealthy and affordable where the medicine is so high priced. The government does not push people to eat right and take their vitamins like they do with medicated drugs because that is where the money is in the medicated drugs. In this essay it shows how the capitalistic system in America values money over citizen’s health through food and medicine.
Ponder
Working on this paper I have made so many different changes from when I started. At the beginning of writing this paper I was so stuck I didn’t know what to add what not to add or even how to get peoples attention. I notice at the beginning of the paper I was writing everything about what I believe and the only part that should have had my opinion was the paper. But if I put my opinion in it I also had to make sure that anything that I said I had to support it with an accurate source so I had to go back and do research on half of the things I was putting into my paper. Some things I could not add into my paper because I didn’t have the proper source of where I got the information from. I also noticed that I had to add in parts such as the process, ponder, and proposal. My main problem I found when I read over my paper was that I used words repeatedly like because so I had to go back into the paper and use a different world or take the word out. I have a problem with using big words I always seem to use smaller words for some reason. Also I did not use the myplate.com website because it would have turned my paper against my argument. I needed sources that supported my argument that the government valued money over the citizen’s health. But other than the things that I said I believe that I do have a strong argument that supports what my paper is about so I am proud of my work.
